Casualty type Machinery Failure
Vessel Type Bulk - VT BBU

* We have received reports that bulk carrier, TBC PROGRESS, experienced a machinery failure in a position approximately 27 nautical miles off Cap de La Hague, France on 27 November 2021.

* Initial repairs attempted by the crew proved unsuccessful and the vessel was noted to be drifting towards the coast in challenging weather conditions.

* Consequently the vessel was taken under tow by tug to Le Havre at the demand of the French authorities, where the vessel was later safely berthed.

* Salvage services were provided to the vessel under LOF terms, consequently Salvage Security will be required to be provided by a party acceptable to the Salvors or the Council of Lloyd's on behalf of cargo interests and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd's and widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* It is also possible that shipowners will declare GA as a consequence of the casualty. If so, General Average security may also be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are also likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
